My name is Christian Boehnke, and I am passionate about impressive UX and UI with a design system in the background, and always ready for development.

With more than 20 years of professional experience in digital design with a clear focus on online and eCommerce projects, I approach every challenge with a lot of ambition, energy, fresh ideas, and always as a team player.

Skills

Design Thinking

I consider the application of common Design Thinking methods to be key to every product development process.

User Centered Design

Keeping track of the users by considering real customer data, surveys, personas, Customer Journey Maps, and User Stories is essential to every one of my projects.

Agile Methods

Agile work, such as using the Kanban or Scrum method, makes sense to me. Teamwork is always the key to successful collaboration.

I enthusiastically present my work to the team or to clients, whether in German or in English.

Design Systems

Design Systems, as an evolution of the classic style guide, ensure a consistent look across all channels. Together with developers and other stakeholders I have already designed several design systems, using Figma and other tools, such as Storybook.

Frontend & Backend dev

I have more than 20 years of experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. React, Angular, PHP, and similar technologies are not new to me. I‘ve been programming since I was 13 years old.

Marketing

Many years of experience in campaign marketing. Focus on the design, implementation, and execution of newsletter campaigns and marketing automation.

Tools

Figma

Figma is my number one choice for user interface design, prototyping, design systems, and for communicating handoff and specs to developers.

Miro

From ideation, personas, customer journey maps, user stories, flow charts, to wire-frames, Miro is my preferred choice. I truly love Miro‘s intuitive and collaborative workflow during workshops and ideation.

Photoshop

I have been using Photoshop for over 20 years and am excited to see where the software is heading. I primarily use Photoshop for image editing and creating banner ads.

Illustrator

Just like with Photoshop, I have extensive experience with Adobe Illustrator. The software is my preferred choice for editing complex vector shapes, such as icons, brand, and print assets, especially when pushing Figma to its limits.

InDesign

I have a clear focus on app and web design. When there is a print job to be done, I also enjoy creating designs for that purpose. For years, I have relied on the industry-standard Adobe InDesign.

After Effects

After Effects gives me all the functionality to edit and create Lottie animations for micro-interactions or large and small video files.

HTML, CSS, JavaScript

I have more than 20 years of experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I can assess what is possible in frontend development during design, and I am able to gauge the level of complexity of a pattern in code.

Next.js

Next.js as a React framework speeds up the entire development workflow. In my opinion, it‘s the best choice for frontend channels of headless CMS systems.
